Cabins at Mt Rainier

The Gallagher/Freeman years at Copper Creek Lodge, 2002 - Present

In April of 2001 Catharine Gallagher and Phil Freeman purchased Copper Creek Inn and Restaurant across the creek from Copper Creek Lodge. While reframing some photos in the restaurant, they discovered three 1946 photos of Copper Creek Lodge behind others in the frame. They fell in love with the log structure. The lodge was not for sale, but after 3 months of negotiation they purchased the property from Fred and Patty Dills in the spring of 2002.

Gallagher/Freeman began the project restoring the Lodge and cabins and preserving the history that embellishes them. In their first year they completed the renovation of the Copper Creek Lodge and the Creek Side Cabin (once the "apartment" created by Van Cleaves). Between April of 2003 and April of 2006 they completed the Dream Weaver, the Art Studio and Forest Retreat. They are in the process of restoring the other smaller cabins. Catharine and Phil now live in the Creek Side Cabin, continue to operate Copper Creek Inn, and rent the Lodge, Art Studio, Dream Weaver and Forest Retreat to Mt Rainier visitors as did the families before them.
